BHS Principal's Update - September 6, 2024

If you need help navigating our new ParentSquare platform, the district has published two documents to help you. This is a video (about 14 minutes) from ParentSquare, and this is a Getting Started presentation from our Technology Director.

Art Rich will be at BHS on September 11 and September 12 to take pictures of students for the Yearbook. Students will be called down from their English class. If you are interested in purchasing photographs, information was given to students in their ILT this week.

We will host our annual Open House on Thursday, September 19, 2024. The program starts at 6:00 PM in the Auditorium. This letter provides additional information about the program.

Bus routes can be found here. In the morning, students will be dropped off at the main entrance. In the afternoon, buses are both in front of the building and the auditorium/gym entrance. Staff will assist students in finding their bus in the afternoon. If dropping students off in the morning, please follow these directions. 7:30 AM is the earliest that a student can be dropped off. Vehicles picking up students at the end of the day MUST park in the student parking lot and be extremely careful as this is a VERY busy area with students after school.

If a student needs a Chromebook, the day they want to pick up their Chromebook, they need to go to the Technology department before the first period (8:00 AM) to either drop off a check or share that their Chromebook was paid for online through MySchoolBucks.  Students will be given a pass to return to the Technology department during ILT to pick up their Chromebook. As we work to meet the menstrual equity requirements outlined in this Public Act (page 12, Section 10), which takes effect on September 1, 2024, feminine products will be available in all girls bathrooms, all single-occupant gender-neutral bathrooms, and the nurse’s office. We are evaluating how to implement the statutory requirement to provide feminine products in at least one male bathroom. This is due to issues that arose when a feminine product dispenser was installed in a men's bathroom in January 2024 and to threats of similar actions if a dispenser were to be reinstalled.
