The Board of Education met on Wednesday night and began discussing possibly adjusting the last day of school due to the large number of weather-related closings. Adjustments could affect exam schedules and the graduation date. Several ideas were reviewed, but no decisions have been made yet. More to come after the next BOE meeting on March 18, 2026. |

I am pleased to share two important awareness campaigns that BHS Senior and National Honor Society (NHS) member, Brad Sollose, has organized to promote inclusion for all students within our school community
World Down Syndrome Day is officially on March 21, 2026, which is not a school day, so we will recognize the day on Friday, March 20th. On this day, we encourage everyone to wear colorful socks to show support for individuals with Down syndrome. On Thursday, April 2, 2026, we invite everyone to wear blue, rainbows, or tie-dye in recognition of World Autism Awareness Day. This is a simple way to communicate solidarity and express support, acceptance, and inclusion.
The color blue represents a commitment to understanding autism, reducing barriers, and promoting a more supportive community for individuals on the autistic spectrum and their families. Rainbows and tie-dye celebrate the beauty in the diverse spectrum of the human mind.
On behalf of the NHS and our entire BHS community, thank you for your support in making these campaigns a success!

Tickets for the Junior Prom are $95 per attendee. Payments can be made on MySchoolBucks (opening 2/9 and closing 3/20) or you can pay cash (cash denominations of $20 or less) or with a check made out to Brookfield High School which can be brought to Mrs. D'Arcangelo in the main office. Or you can buy your tickets in the cafe from 3/2 - 3/6. If you plan on bringing a guest who does not attend Brookfield High School - please see Mrs. Genovese for your guest form.
Students attending Junior Prom are required to provide a note for their early dismissal, and must be in attendance for the full half-day of school to be eligible to attend the event (dismissal after ILT).

In preparation for World Autism Day on April 2, Brookfield SEPTO is launching an acceptance campaign to raise awareness about autism and celebrate the many students in our community and around the world who are impacted by this developmental disability. They have organized a Spirit Week that includes daily themed activities, each accompanied by a brief fact about autism. We hope that these efforts will create meaningful opportunities for learning—where questions are welcomed, conversations are encouraged, and our school environments continue to grow in inclusivity, understanding, and acceptance. |

The Brookfield Learning Center (BLC) offers SAT Prep programs, specifically for 11th-grade students, to prepare for the April 8, 2026, CT School Day SAT. Boot Camp Plus is a new program that offers 14 hours of instruction over 8 days. Two Saturday mornings at BLC and two live online midweek sessions. |
There are many different reasons students stay after school (extra help, club meetings, detention, etc.). To ensure better supervision, we are adjusting some of our after-school procedures for students. Starting at 2:30 PM each day:
- All parent pick-ups will be at the athletic/auditorium entrance.
- The Tuesday/Thursday late bus will pick up at the athletic/auditorium entrance.
- Non-athletes are to use the athletic/auditorium lobby bathrooms (locker room bathrooms are for athletes' use only).

Student and staff safety continue to be our number one priority:
- The Auditorium/Gym doors used by student drivers and students dropped off in the morning will not be open until 6:45 AM. Prior to that time, students must use the Main Entrance.
- The Main Entrance parking lot is for BUS TRAFFIC and STAFF VEHICLES ONLY from 6:45 AM to 7:30 AM.
- During arrival time, the main entrance is exclusively for the 500+ students on buses; staff use ID badges at other entrances.
- Security staff are stationed at the main entrance.
- Installation of additional surveillance cameras has recently been completed.
- Construction on the Auditorium/Gym entrance to monitor after-school usage is nearly complete.
- Requesting quotes for software/hardware they use that requires all students to scan their IDs before entering the building.

Brookfield Public Schools is implementing an updated, nationally recognized process to respond to emergencies, Standard Response Protocol (SRP). I shared information about the protocol with students and staff this week during ILT. It was an initial presentation, and we will continue to explore and practice how we will implement these protocols at Brookfield High School. More information will be shared in the coming weeks. There has been an excessive amount of student hall traffic at the end of each school day which leads to classroom disruptions. To that end, the administration will be restricting passes for the last 15 minutes of the block (2:00 PM - 2:15 PM). |
Students, while on school property, are not to have any medication (prescription or over-the-counter) in their possession. When medication is necessary, it will be administered to the student by the clinic staff following receipt of a signed order by a physician and written parental permission. Medical permission forms can be obtained in the clinic. |
Students may not order food for delivery during the school day. If a student forgets to bring their lunch, a parent/guardian may drop off food, and the Main Office will hold it until the student's scheduled lunch period. We have also seen an increase in parents/guardians dropping off beverages other than water (such as coffee and frozen drinks) during the school day. Students are not allowed to have these beverages in class. |

Students can now purchase breakfast from the cafeteria between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:30 AM. Muffins, breakfast sandwiches, cereal, milk, juice, and more will be available! |

This is a reminder that the official school start time is 7:30 AM. Please allow sufficient travel time to ensure you arrive on campus and are in class before the bell rings.
Please be sure to follow the UPDATED traffic drop-off pattern (click here). For safety reasons, do not let students out of the vehicle until they are in the drop-off area. There have been multiple instances of students being dropped off on Long Meadow Hill Road, narrowly avoiding accidents, and causing additional safety concerns.
Chronic tardiness can result in the loss of student parking privileges. Arriving on time is crucial for ensuring students do not miss important instruction.

The CIFC School-Based Health Center at Brookfield High School operates as an independent healthcare provider, working closely with students and their families. The provider only works with school staff with the explicit approval of the student and their parent/guardian.
CIFC currently provides mental health support several days a week. Please CLICK HERE to read the letter from our School-Based Healthcare therapist, Samatha Mei. She has been a wonderful addition to our community and a fantastic resource for students and families.

In the morning, buses drop students off at the main entrance, and in the afternoon, buses are located both in front of the building and at the auditorium/gym entrance. If a family is dropping a student off in the morning, please click here to access the morning student drop-off procedures. 7:00 AM is the earliest a student should be dropped off. Vehicles picking up students at the end of the day MUST park in the student parking lot and be extremely careful, as this is a VERY busy area with students after school. |
