Last Days of School/Final Exams

Please take a moment to review the Last Days of School/Final Exam Schedules, June 2026. Here are some important notes about these schedules:

- We will run an alternate schedule for the last two full days of school (June 16 and June 17); 12th graders ONLY will take their 1A, 7A, 1B, and 7B exams during the longer blocks these days.
- Any 9th, 10th, and 11th-grade students who have 1A, 7A, 1B, or 7B classes with 12th graders will be informed at a later date when they will take their exam.
- Starting June 18, we will operate on a half-day schedule with 2 exams per day.
- 12th graders will take their 2A and 4/5/6A exams on June 18 and their 2B and 4/5/6B exams on June 19.
- 12th-grade students with a 93 average (or higher) in a year-long or semester class are exempted from taking that final exam.

Help with Community Service Opportunities

Please help us connect BHS students with the community! We’re updating our community service directory to ensure every student can hit their 50-hour graduation requirement
Own a non-profit that needs volunteers or know a great local cause? Let us know here: Community Service Directory Update 2026 form (takes less than a minute).
Please also feel free to send this link to any non-profits that would benefit from some extra help from our BHS students.

Grad Party needs your help

The 2026 Grad Party marks the 40th anniversary of this amazing event for our graduating Seniors but they need your help to keep the party going. Please consider donating directly to their fundraising campaign (click here to donate) and go to their website (bhsctgradparty.com) for more information.

Students staying after school

There are many different reasons students stay after school (extra help, club meetings, detention, etc.). To ensure better supervision, we are adjusting some of our after-school procedures for students. Starting at 2:30 PM each day:

  1. All parent pick-ups will be at the athletic/auditorium entrance.
  2. The Tuesday/Thursday late bus will pick up at the athletic/auditorium entrance.
  3. Non-athletes are to use the athletic/auditorium lobby bathrooms (locker room bathrooms are for athletes' use only).

School Safety/Security Reminders

Student and staff safety continue to be our number one priority:
  • The Auditorium/Gym doors used by student drivers and students dropped off in the morning will not be open until 6:45 AM. Prior to that time, students must use the Main Entrance.
  • The Main Entrance parking lot is for BUS TRAFFIC and STAFF VEHICLES ONLY from 6:45 AM to 7:30 AM.
  • During arrival time, the main entrance is exclusively for the 500+ students on buses; staff use ID badges at other entrances.
  • Security staff are stationed at the main entrance.
  • Installation of additional surveillance cameras has recently been completed.
  • Construction on the Auditorium/Gym entrance to monitor after-school usage is nearly complete.
  • Requesting quotes for software/hardware they use that requires all students to scan their IDs before entering the building.

School Emergency Protocols

Brookfield Public Schools is implementing an updated, nationally recognized process to respond to emergencies, Standard Response Protocol (SRP). I shared information about the protocol with students and staff this week during ILT. It was an initial presentation, and we will continue to explore and practice how we will implement these protocols at Brookfield High School. More information will be shared in the coming weeks. This is a copy of the SRP poster that will be placed in every classroom and office across the school. If you would like more information, click here to go to the SRP website.

Medication during the school day

Students, while on school property, are not to have any medication (prescription or over-the-counter) in their possession. When medication is necessary, it will be administered to the student by the clinic staff following receipt of a signed order by a physician and written parental permission. Medical permission forms can be obtained in the clinic.

Food and beverage delivery during school hours

Students may not order food for delivery during the school day. If a student forgets to bring their lunch, a parent/guardian may drop off food, and the Main Office will hold it until the student's scheduled lunch period. We have also seen an increase in parents/guardians dropping off beverages other than water (such as coffee and frozen drinks) during the school day. Students are not allowed to have these beverages in class.

School day arrival

This is a reminder that the official school start time is 7:30 AM. Please allow sufficient travel time to ensure you arrive on campus and are in class before the bell rings.

Please be sure to follow the UPDATED traffic drop-off pattern (click here).  For safety reasons, do not let students out of the vehicle until they are in the drop-off area.  There have been multiple instances of students being dropped off on Long Meadow Hill Road, narrowly avoiding accidents, and causing additional safety concerns.

Chronic tardiness can result in the loss of student parking privileges. Arriving on time is crucial for ensuring students do not miss important instruction.
note

Attendance reminders

If your student is absent from school, a note must be submitted to the school. It could be a parent/guardian note, a doctor's note, or click here to print the attendance form. If you have any questions about attendance, click here to access the document, Understanding BHS-State of CT Attendance Mandates.

Getting to and from school

Click here to access the 25-26 bus routes. In the morning, buses drop students off at the main entrance, and in the afternoon, buses are located both in front of the building and at the auditorium/gym entrance. If a family is dropping a student off in the morning, please click here to access the morning student drop-off procedures. 7:00 AM is the earliest a student should be dropped off. Vehicles picking up students at the end of the day MUST park in the student parking lot and be extremely careful, as this is a VERY busy area with students after school.
